Introduction
<br />This document is the decision package prepazed b}' the Colorado Division of Minerals and
<br />Geology (the Division) for [he Bowie No. 1 Mine. This document includes: 1) the proposed
<br />decision to approve with stipulations the permit reirewal application; 2) a summary which
<br />includes a history of the review of the permit application, a description of the environment
<br />affected by the operation and a description of the ntining and reclamation plan; and 3) the written
<br />findings of compliance the Division has made as required by the Colorado Surface Coal Mining
<br />Reclamation Act. Detailed information concerning the findings of compliance can be found in
<br />the Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Boazd for Coal Mining.
<br />The Division has received an application for a permit renewal to conduct surface coal mining and
<br />reclamation operations at the Bowie No. 1 Mine. The application was submitted by Bowie
<br />Resources Limited (BRL). The mine is currently being operated by Bowie Resources Limited.
<br />The mine is located on federal and private lands within Delta County, Colorado. The legal
<br />description of the lands included within the permit area is:
<br />A parcel of land situated in Sections 1, 2, 10-15, 22-25, Township 13 South, Range 92 West of
<br />the 6th P.M., and Sections 5-8, 17-19, 29-32, Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th
<br />P.M.. described as follows:
