2-19a
A light-use road will be constructed as access to a stream gaging
station located on East Salt Creek, an intermittant stream bisecting
the western extreme of the permit area. The gaging station is part
of the company's effort to comply with water monitoring requirements
established by the State of Colorado.
Minimum construction will be required to provide a 10 to 20 foot
wide, 60 foot long access for purposes of servicing the station and
maintaining the stream channel. Appropriate erosion control measures
will be initiated as outlined in Section 2.4.2, and sedimentation
controls will be in the form of a berm and a filter fence at the
termination of the feature. As the feature will be used only
sparingly, grasses will be allowed to grow in the road itself.
No variance is requested for operation within a stream buffer zone,
as East Salt Creek is intermittant in nature and no biological
community has been determined in these reaches of the stream.
2.2.3 Storage and Stockpile Sites
The operation will have minor storage systems for fuel (diesel),
and a warehouse trailer for non-flammable and non-explosive
products. Miscellaneous grease and oils will be stored adjacent
to the warehouse building with bulk oils and fuels stored away
from the building as shown in Figure 2.2-2.
Coal extracted underground will be conveyed to a portable crusher
located on the bench and from there deposited by conveyor in a
surge pile priority to loading into on-highway.
