The rich industrial
countries (USA, Britain, Germany, etc.)
have been in the dominant industrial
position since the early 1800's.
However, the next century will be
dominated by the economies of the de-
veloping countries (see figure). North
American mining executives are realizing
that the greatest opportunities for growth
exist overseas.
These economies will require rapid
expansion of electrical power facilities.
The per capita electrical power
consumption is less than 400 kWh in
India and Indonesia. This compares with
12,000 kWh in the USA.
The tremendous demands for power,
particularly in the developing Asian
countries, will create similar demands for
the most economical fuel -COAL
The most efficient coal mines in the
world (both sudace and underground)
are located in North America and the vast
majority are in the western half of the
continent. Our trips throughout the world
confirm the strong desire to take
advantage of North American coal
mining technology and funding.
However, a recent trip to an Indonesian
mining meeting showed that the Hussies
outnumbered the Yanks and Canucks by
about 25 to 1.
The opportunities are out there, but
they will not last forever!
DFS
SHARES OF WORLD OUTPUT
-FGdi lydiaWl(q,n0ia -I7walopug Caurmes'
Including Eastern Europe and loaner Soviet Union.
" Forocasts assume countries continue to grow
at regional rare projected by the World bank.
Source: World Bank
DIAN JOINT VENTURE COMPANY ESTABLISH
Norwest Mine Services, Inc.,
City and CESC of Calcutta,
formed a new company in Inc
firm, RPG(Norwest Mine Se
Limited, just received approYfi
government to conduct bushes
~ It will provide consulting and
r• ~; services to the rapidly expanding
industry in India and surroundin
The new firm is owned 40% `
Electric Service Company (CESC~
RPG Industries Limited, and 40°k
ends and P.B.
