Banta,
Division Director
Re: First Quarter, 1991 Reports, Orchard Valley Mine, Permit C-81-038
Dear Mr. Koehler:
The Division has received and reviewed the first quarter 1991 reports. These
included NPDES DMRs, monitoring reports for East Roatcap Creek and two
Steven's Gulch alluvial wells, sediment pond self inspections and quarterly
certified reports for the new !caste pile. As per our phone conversation of
May 1, 1991, we agreed that quarterly inspections and monitoring reports are
no longer necessary for the old waste pile (see Rule 4.10.2(21fa1 since
construction and final reclamation occurred in 1987.
We also concur with your belief that the sediment pond self inspection report
need only be submitted Quarterly as specified in Rule 4.05.6(101, f,OVCC must
still inspect sediment levels monthly as required by the Permit Volume SA
Sedimentation Ponds Sediment Monitoring Program. The results of these monthly
sediment inspections should be included on the quarterly reports.
Thank you for your timely submittal.
Sin rely,
~~~~~
Carl B.
