ch
f
The haul road from about station 125+00 shown on Map 16 to station 6+00 shown on
Map 95266-05, a total of about 600-feet, is new construction. This road was
constructed during the second quarter of 1998. No compaction tests were performed
on the embankment, however, I inspected the construction on numerous occasions and
observed that a suitable compactive effort was applied to the road embankment with a
sheepsfoot compactor. Cut and fill slopes conform to the requirements of Rule
4.03.1(3)(d) and 4.03.1(3)(e)(ix). The grade of the haul road meets the requirements of
Rule 4.03.1(3)(a) but it is not in accordance with the profile presented on Map 95266-
05. About 225 feet of this road segment exceeds 10% grade. There is no place on this
road Thal exceeds a Pilch grade of 15% and the overall road grade is less Than 10%.
Except as explained above, to the best of my knowledge and belief, the gob pile haul
road was constructed as designed and in accordance with the approved plan.
~~~ ~//B
James E.
