Long <br />Division Dueclor <br />As a result of review by the Division of Minerals and Geology of your permit application, pertinent geology and <br />geochemistry, and recent inspection reports, your Gold Links Mine, Permit No. M-87-143, has been determined <br />to be a Designated Mining Operation. This office is hereby notifying you of this determination. Pursuant to Rule <br />7.2 of the Minerals Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board, the above-named <br />operation has been determined to be a Designated Mining Operation for [he following reason: <br />Toxic or acid-forming materials are or will be exposed or disturbed as a result of mining activities: The <br />permit area contains substantial amounts of old tail materials, which are metals-bearing and are currently <br />disturbed in the ongoing operations. <br />2. Acid mine drainage occurs or has [he potential to occur due [o mining or reclamation activities: There is <br />an ongoing discharge from the mine, which Flows over and/or through a portion of [he above-mentioned <br />tails. The approved mining and reclamation plan for the permit includes the removal of said tails, which <br />also constitutes potential for contributing to acid mine drainage. <br />If you agree with [his designation, you are required to notify this office by mail of your concurrence within 30 days <br />of the date of [his notice and to proceed to comply with the requirements of Subsection 7.2.3 of [he Minerals Rules. <br />If you disagree witlt this designation, a written appeal must be received by this office within 30 days of the date of <br />[his notice. <br />If you have any questions on [he above, please contact Bob Oswald. <br />Sincere~~ '/y~ <br />Bruce Humphries <br />Minerals Program Supervisor <br />CERTIFlED MAIL NO.
