COLORADO
~~
The formation of the Colorado
Lien Company began in 1968
when Bruce Lien discovered, and
Pete Lien inspected, a 'dilapidated'
calcium carbonate plant near
Livermore, Colorado. Pete Lien &
Sons, Inc. assumed the mining
activity from the Holly Sugar
Company, and in 1970 it became
Colorado Lien Company.
During the first months of
operation, more time was spent
upgrading the facilities than pro-
ducing products. Equipment was
repaired, relocated or replaced.
Continual modernization of the fine
grind limestone plant has enabled
the company to expand their
markets and their product line.
The product is finely ground
limestone material used for feed
supplement, mineral, chemical and
process material fillers, and glass
manufacturing.
Reclamation Award
Department of Natural Resources
Coloratlo Mmed Land Reclamation
Board -Presented to Colorado Lien
Company tar reclamation at the Sheep
Draw Quarry in Lorimer County.
Aggregate Mining
Reclamation Award
Department of Natural Resources
Mined Land Reclamation Board -
Presenled to Colorado Lien Company
for reclamation at the Owl Canyon
Quarry
21622
End Uses of Rock
• Embankments
• Housing Foundations
• Roadways
• Sugar Processing
End Uses of Limestone
• Agricultural Feeds
• Asphalt Filler
• Domestic Animal Feed
• Fertilizer
• Fire Retardant for Coal Walls
• Flooring Tiles
• Roofing Shingles
• Rubber Products
COMPANY
Processing
minerals for the
Rocky Mountain
Region....
Mining of various materials over a
dozen sites includes sandstone,
limestone, and gypsum. The quarries
are located in northern and central
Colorado and southeastern Wyoming.
Limestone and sandstone are used
primarily for chemical grade applica-
tions and for aggregate uses.
Gypsum is used primarily in cement
manufacturing.
Mineral processing at the fine
grind is accomplished by drying,
crushing, pulverizing, sizing and
separating materials for various
applications.
The very nature of the crushed
stone business requires a strong
sense of responsibility, concern,
commitment and foresight. Colorado
Lien Company adheres to those
values, and their `good neighbor'
program attests to their dedication
and commitment to being the best
neighbor they can be. For example,
sequential blasting techniques are
employed to minimize ground and air
vibrations. This technique includes
seismograph analysis of every shot.
The company has installed dust
collectors and screen enclosures, and
applies water and other dust
suppressants to control fugitive dust.
NSA
Environmental
Eagle Award
• Outstanding Achievement
Munroe Quarry
