COLORADO DEYARTMENI' OP HCALTH
Water Quality Control Division
Certification - Page 2 Permit No. COG-500209
III. RECEIVING STREAM:
A. Identification, Classification, and Numeric Standards
1. Identification: Segment 3 of the Lower Gunnison River,
Lower Gunnison River Sub-basin, Gunnison
River Basin
2. Classification: Aquatic Life Class 1 (cold)
Recreation Class 2
Water Supply
Agriculture
3. Numeric Standards: The Standards which have been assigned in
accordance with Che above classifications
can be found in 3.5.0 Classification and
Numeric Standards for the Gunnison and
Lower Dolores River Basins (5 CCR 1002-8),
as amended January 30, 1991. It should be
noted that this facility does not discharge
pollutants which are limited by water
quality standards with the exception of pH.
IV. FACILITY INFORMATION:
The facility is a sand and gravel operation located along the Gunnison
River, approximately one mile east of North Delta. The operation involves
the mining of sand and gravel from the pit. The mine water, from ground
and storm water, is pumped to a sedimentation pond and then to a drainage
ditch which discharges to the Gunnison River.
The permittee did not report, in the permit application, any modifications
to the facility since the issuance of the last permit. Therefore, a
description of the facility, wastewater sources, discharge point(s) and
treatment received by the wastewater is identified in a previous
certification. Please refer to Figures 1 and 2 of the permit for a
current map of the facility.
V. ANTIDEGRADATION:
These are not reviewable waters pursuant to Section 3.1.8(3)(a) of the
Basic Standards and Methodologies for Surface Water (5 CCR 1002-2), based
on a finding of no increased water quality impact.
