Observations
will include but not be limited to possible releases from any pit on location as well as the
unintentional release of other substances such as lubricants, antifreeze, fuel etc.
Well Drilling De-silting Pit Release Mitigation
1) The soil affected by the release will be excavated (surface scraped) to a depth necessary
to remove residue. It is important that this activity take place as soon as possible before
a stormwater event flushes the residual into Piceance Creek. It is also important to
minimize or eliminate disturbance of vegetation in the process of completing the clean-
up.
2) Any "light" stormwater runoff that may occur prior to or during completion of clean-up
activity will be collected in the lined temporary sump that was dug to contain the spill.
This water and soil can be placed on a location where storm runoff from it will not
contaminate vegetation or Piceance Creek (a more secure pit on another well pad
location might work).
3) Document the clean-up completion with digital photos of the path of the release across
the surface and a summary of the amount of soil material relocated in addition to any
comments regarding the collection of storm water during the clean-up activity.
4) Remove the liner, backfill the temporary sump and appropriately reclaim the area.
Delivering a Crystal Clear Advantage.
www.americansoda.com
