MEMO TO YOAST MINE FILE
DATE: November 14, 1995
FROM: Larry Routten ~Z
RE: Probable Hydrologic Consequences
Creek
Chuck McCullogh and Scott Williams of Seneca
Susan Burgmaier and me on October 24, 1995
Seneca dragline to the Yoast Mine. During
Scott Williams where the company was it
stipulation on the Yoast permit requiring
probable hydrologic consequences of mining c
said he had never heard about the Division's
Evaluation for Sage
Coal Company met with
:o discuss moving the
:hat meeting, I asked
responding to the
3n evaluation of the
~n Sage Creek. Scott
concern before.
I explained to him that preliminary information on the Yoast permit
indicated there was a good chance for material damage to Sage Creek
as a result of spoil springs at the Yoast Mine. I told him the
Division could not approve mining operations which would result in
material damage. I told him this was a serious question which the
Division had posed to the Peabody hydrologists working on the Yoast
permit application, and that we had suggested they respond to the
stipulation this winter.
Scott and Chuck noted my comments and said they would talk to their
permitting people about the PHC questions.
