He was awarded a
Silver Star and given a batriefield comrni.4-
sion during World Waz II and, after return-
ing home and just beginning to get back.to
a normal life, was one of those inactive
reservists who were notified that they had
to journey to Korea and 5ght another waz. I
think Raymond earned the right for his
children to make a living from the land he
fought for.
. -Forest P. Porter
Colorado Springs
THINK WNAT A family had W put up
with when they moved here 60 years ago.
Looking West they would see trees, ante-
Iope, fox, coyote, deer, cattle, horses and
other wild animal.A Now from the same
view .we see multistory homes, pavement,
cais,.streetlights and automobile pollution
The scar properly was excavated to make
aggnzgate for the influx of people wtio : .
came here to live. That's progress
Some people have the audacity to
complain about a small six~cre scar mess-
ing up their viewa.I guess these people.
would think the Grand Canyon and our
deserts are ugly. Personally, 1 think ugly is
sprawled-0ut subdivisions and traffic
congestion to accommodate transplants.
Congatulations to the county commission-
ers for protecting private property rights.
-Jim Oxford
redo Springs
