x~-~
Reporting Period July 28, 1997 -August 3, 1997,
4
In light of observed movements, and consistent with our slope stability action plan and the
commitments made under PR07, back calculation of soil strength properties, collection of
accurate surface survey data, and re-evaluation of design slope configurations for the south slope
of the intake shaft site has begun. Initial readings of survey prisms above the cut slope indicate
no global movement is occurring.
Also consistent with the commitments made under PR07, MCC has identified a need to monitor
potential foundation movement and pore pressures beneath the large embankment for the main
crossing of Sylvester Gulch. Three vibrating wire piezometers at depths from 35 to 60 feet were
installed into the foundation soils on Sunday, August 3. Two inclinometers will also be installed
at the north and south embankment toes in the near future.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (970) 929-2207.
Sincerely,
IA/ '~~
Eric W.
