<br />• According to WECC, "soft market conditions have slowed <br />expansion." The current production is about 600,000 tons <br />and about 85 employees work at the mine. <br />Colorado MLRD approved the WECC application on July 12, 1989 <br />(Technical Revision No. 55), under the Colorado State <br />program and the Colorado cooperative agreement (30 CFR <br />906.30). Colorado MLRD did not require any special <br />conditions of approval to ensure compliance with the <br />Colorado State program. <br />C. Related Environmental Documents <br />Environmental studies prepared for the Mt. Gunnison No. 1 <br />mine and surrounding general area include: <br />- BLM, 1979. West Central Colorado Coal Environmental <br />Statement--included comprehensive site-specific <br />consideration of the mining and reclamation plan for <br />room and pillar and longwall mining in the F, E, and B <br />seams in a 12,500-acre life-of-mine area, which <br />included about 7,500 acres in Federal leases C-1362, <br />C-0117192, and D-044569. <br />- OSM, June 1981: Mt. Gunnison No. 1 Mining Plan <br />• Approval Technical Environmental Assessment--evaluated <br />the mining plan and reclamation plan for initial F-seam <br />mining operations in about 2500 acres, including part <br />of Federal lease C-0117192, and all of Federal lease <br />D-044569. <br />- OSM, August 1985. Mt. Gunnison No. 1 Mining Plan <br />Modification Environmental Assessment--evaluated the <br />extension of the underground F-seam mining operations <br />into about 320 acres of Federal lease C-0117192. <br />- OSM, September 1985. Mt. Gunnison Mine Mining Plan <br />Modification Environmental Assessment--evaluated the <br />extension of F-seam mining operations into about 1450 <br />acres, including the remainder of Federal lease <br />C-0117192 and the northern part of Federal lease C-1362 <br />within the watershed of the North Fork of the Gunnison <br />River. <br />- OSM, November 1987. Mt. Gunnison No. 1 Mining Plan <br />Modification Environmental Assessment--reevaluated the <br />mining and reclamation plan for mining the F seam in <br />Federal leases C-1362, C-0117192, and D-044569 based on <br />monitoring data collected since mining began. <br /> <br />
