The Burro mine underground workings
and surface installations were used to support the joint venture. the
operation last operated in May 1983.
The surface disturbance on the Burro permit date back to 1957. Ore
reserves on the Burro Mine as of January 1, 1984 are 6,000 tons. Union
Carbide is currently maintaining the mine drainage system. Entrance into
underground workings are barred by locked gates and ventilation fans are
currently installed on ventilation raises.
Union Carbide feels that no stability or erosion problems exist on the
Burro Mine permitted area. Union Carbide will monitor the area to insure
compliance with permitted stipulations.
The enclosed map will orient the photographs that also accompany this
letter.
If you have questions, feel free to contact me.
RRE:ac
Yours very truly,
R.
