Mr. Joby Adams
July 16, 1999
Page 2
In terms of the number of AL and POC wells for this pilot project, we suggest installing a
minimum of two AL and two POC monitoring wells. The ground water monitoring network for
this pilot project must consist of a sufficient number of monitoring wells installed at appropriate
locations and depths which will yield representative quality of background ground water and
ground water quality at the AL and POC wells. The proposed monitoring network plan must be
submitted to the appropriate regulatory agencies for review and approval prior to
implementation.
Many issues must be addressed regarding groundwater monitoring (eg., appropriate screened
intervals, well construction, number and location of upgradient, crossgradient and trench
monitoring wells, monitoring frequency and duration of monitoring)prior to initiating
monitoring at this site. The intent of this letter is to address your request for clarification on the
location of POC monitoring wells for the proposed pilot project.
Should you have questions regarding this matter, please contact me at your convenience.
Sincerel
Roger Doak
Environmental Protection Specialist
Solid Waste Unit
Compliance Program
cc: Trevor Jiricek, Weld County Health Department
Harry Posey, Colorado Division of Geology
Ken Niswonger, HMWMD
George Moravec, HMWMD
sw/wld/var 2
