I; q!(if ll fR ~'~n~ui r'• <br />f; n n <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br />Dear Ms. Emrick: <br />This letter is to inform the Mined Land Reclamation ])ivision <br />of a coal blast that was detonated after daylight hours on .January 25, <br />1982. The shot occurred at G:30 p.m. with all standard safety <br />precautions being followed. <br />The delay in 'shooting the block of coal was caused by operational <br />delays and equipment failures during the day which slowed production. <br />This meant that the coal was uncovered later than planned and due to <br />production requirements, it had to he shot and mined that night. A <br />copy of the shot report is attached. <br />The nearest dwelling is more Lhan one halt' mile away, so no warning <br />was given to the resident, who is a member of the mine's blasting crew. <br />The area was cleared before the shot with all the necessary warnings <br />being given. <br />If you have any questions on this occurrence, please call me. <br />Sincerely, <br />COLORADO YAMPA COAL COMPANY <br />~.~. ~ <br />P.iichae] J.
