(Colowyo) is notifying the Department of Minerals and Geology
regarding the use of a new dust suppression product on our non paved haul roads. Precipitation
induced runoff from our haul roads has the potential to enter several of our regulated discharge
ponds. We chose to use Polo Citrus Corporation's Haulage Dustcon product which we believe
will meet our air quality needs and our discharge permit requirements. This product will be mixed
with water prior to applying to the haul roads. We anticipate being able to apply this product to
our roads by June 1, 1997. Colowyo will also continue to use a mixture of magnesium chloride
and water on some haul roads.
A Material Safety Data Sheet and additional information regarding the Haulage Dustcon product
is enclosed for your review. Mr. Jon Kubic with the Colorado Department of Public Health and
Envirortment has also been asked to review the product. Please contact me at (970) 824-1531
v<~ith any concerns or questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Kimberley A/Wolf
cc: JA Kiger
