Conversely, the channel eliminates the western <br />portion of the 001 drainage area from the pond system, <br />Upon completion of construction, the channel sides and base will be rip rapped using native rock <br />materials. Alight application of grass seed may be sown, however, due to the rock cover, no <br />mulching is anticipated. <br />Final reclamation of the fill material will occur in 1999. The material will be contoured as <br />necessary, topsoiled and revegetated. To mitigate sediment generation from the fill materials <br />prior to final reclamation, a number of steps may be taken to remove as much sediment as <br />possible from the fill prior to drainage reporting to the 001 ponds or directly to the Dutch Creek <br />channel. The sides of the fills will be left in a roughened state so as to disrupt flow patterns and <br />slow water velocities. A series of depressions may be constructed to act as sediment traps at the <br />base of the fills. These depressions are temporary in nature, will be shallow, and may be <br />constructed in series. The use of silt fence and straw bales will be employed at key drainage <br />points prior to storm water entering into either the channel or the 001 pond system. <br />Project Area West of Road A <br />The major disturbance in this area is the placement of approximately 50,000 cubic yazds of coal <br />refuse into a two acre area. The side slopes of the pile, which is slightly under thirty feet in <br />height, are approximately 4H:1 V. The slopes have been left in a roughened condition, with <br />numerous furrows, trenches and berms in place on each of the three sides. These will act to <br />contain minor amounts of storm water, and to disrupt flow paths, while slowing velocities. A <br />series of berms and depressions will be constructed at the base of the pile to the north of the toe, <br />an area where water will tend to accumulate upon snow melt. These berms and depressions will <br />allow solids to settle out of suspension. A ditch will convey the water from the north end of the <br />berm and ditch azea to the Dutch Creek Channel. Again, the drainage will be passed through <br />straw bales or silt fence prior to dischazging into Dutch Creek. <br />This facility will be reclaimed in 1999. Topsoil will be applied after final grading is <br />accomplished. Drainage control work will be accomplished as needed. The area will then be <br />seeded and mulched. Shrub sediment barriers may be utilized as conditions warrant. <br />Road A above the construction area also passes through this area. Prior to construction of the <br />Dutch Creek Channel, Road A drainage reported to the 001 ponds by virtue of a ditch system <br />parallel to the road. Construction of the channel has eliminated the ditch. Now this road <br />drainage will report directly to the Dutch Creek Channel. It will be passed through straw bales or <br />silt fencing prior to discharge into the creek. <br />The Project Manager for the Division of Minerals and Geology is designated as the SWMP <br />Administrator. The Administrator is on-site, and will be responsible for monitoring the S WMP <br />BMP's and contracting for maintenance as the need arises. Inspections of the BMP's will occur <br />each spring and fall, and afer heavy summer thunder storms. <br />
