Barbara Pavlik and I
discussed some ideas for collection of baseline hydrology information with Colowyo this past
summer. A summary of the ideas discussed are presented in the attached June 22, 1995
Colowyo letter. I am not certain what parameters they intend to monitor during baseline
collection. I believe we recommended they refer to the Division's old guideline for
collection of baseline hydrology information.
The attached August S, 1995 Colowyo letter summarizes their plan for an initial phase of
overburden data collection. I basically told them a plan similar to this would be adequate
as an initial round of overburden characterization. Based on the initial data, they may or
may not need to do some additional characterization of overburden. That will depend on
whether any problematic overburden characteristics are identified, and on the variability of
the initial data.
STATE OF COLORADO
c:\wp51\092695
