Watcher
Executive Director
Michael 8. Long
Division Director
As you may know, the operating permit for the Sunlight Mine was revoked by the Colorado Mined Land
Reclamation Board many years ago. The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology has accomplished
some reclamation activities at the site. Additional work is required at the property, however. The Division
of Minerals and Geology has been directed to accomplish this work.
The Division of Minerals and Geology has received some limited funding to accomplish additional
reclamation work at the Sunlight Mine. We intend to remove the coal waste and the cribbing located
above, and adjacent to, Ga~eld County Road 127. The coal material will be used as 511, and will be
placed in the large open excavation over the mine entry located south of, and downhill from, County Road
127. Minor grading and other miscellaneous lacks will also be accomplished.
II is our understanding that your father is the landowner of record (or the mine property, and that you are
the administrator of his estate. Therefore, we are notifying you that we plan to accomplish the reclamation
work by November 1, 1999.
Please contact me by July 7, 1999 if you have questions or comments.
Sincerely, /
Steven G.
