iii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

September 30, 1989
Jack Crichton
1-mericaa Shield Coal
Suite 175
10830 North Central
Dallas, Texas 75231
Mr. Crichton:
Company
Expressway
Daa M. Lynch
305 N.E. 170th
Seattle, Waahingtoa 98155
I am the surface owner of a portion of the land within 1lmerican
Shield's Fruits Miae area. The legal descriptloa of the land in
the srea of the mine is as follows: Township 8S, Range lO1W,
Section 30, N} of the NE3.
l It is my underataadiag that the site is to be reclaimed in the
near future. Thin latter is to inform all interested partites
that I desire the bench area (formally used for the Fruits it
portal area) and its associated access road to remain after
reclamation. I also understand that the beach may need to be
modified slightly to provide better slope stability.
The beach area has a:cellent vinwa of the Colorado River valley
not found often in the Book Cliffs due to the poor access. Tha
beach area is now well vegetated with gzasaea and does not have a
runoff problem. I would like to use the beach area for occasional
recreation, poaaibly installing a picnic table and a barbecue
pit. The site is significantly more valuable to me in thin
configuration than the pre-mining steep slope. The pre-miming
slope wan too atenp for any use other than wildlife habitat.
Sincerely yours,
Dan M. Lynch
67
