Nelson:
As you are aware from pervious correspondence, Wyoming Fuel
Company (WFC) has recently been experiencing elevated levels of
total suspended solids in our mine water discharge. For the past
several months WFC has directed all mine water to a large sediment
pond (GE003). During this time there has been no discharge of
water from the permit area.
At this time WFC intends to lease a Fluids Control Inc.
filtration system to determine if this passive remediation
technique is capable of reducing 'fSS levels to acceptable limits.
As we discussed on 1/17/91, this system will simply involve
pumping caster from pond 003 into the filtration unit which will in
turn release water into the approved discharge point. No chemicals
will be used for this trial. We anticipate using this system for
approximately one month.
Should you have any questions on this matter, please feel free
to contact me.
nc
Stuart'Francone
Environmental Coordinator
cc: -.
