I1d,ul. 01 Frd(b'r,31 K21;;c;C@S
I am writing to inform you of our intention to slightly modify the
baseline hydrology monitoring program at our Seneca II-W property
in Routt County. We have measured water levels and sampled wells
at lease once per quarter since 1980. Unless you object, we intend
to skip groundwater monitoring this winter quarter and the following
winter quarter since we believe we have sufficient data and because
wintertime monitoring is difficult and potentially hazardous. We
will continue groundwater monitoring in the spring, summer, and fall
quarters until we have been granted a permit to mine at which time
we will initiate the monitoring program detailed in Section V.A. of
the forthcoming revised Seneca II-W Mine permit application.
We likewise intend to stop monthly site visits to surface water sites
56-3 and CG-1 during the winter months since the three years of baseline
data indicate that these sites are typically frozen until late April
or early May. We will continue monthly visits to these sites during
the rest of the year. All other surface water monitoring sites wilt
continue to be monitored the year round.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Very truly yours,

Norm Nielsen
NN:kt
cc: Slade Dingman
Dennis Jones
Jim Lunan
Jay Mednick
Tom Wainwright
7
