.- i •
It is not acitir_ipated that fertilization of the area to be
seeded will be required due to the short term from the
inception of the disturbance to the time of seeding.
However, soil analy:>is will be performed and fertilizer will
be applied if deemed necessary.
Remedial action will include grading of rills and gullies,
additional seeding, fertilization and mulching as necessary.
In order to compute the volume of material to he excavated,
Chimney Rock personnel performed a survey of the e~.isting
channel. The survey was completed to points above and below
the point of diversion. Numerous cross-sections, wr_re also
completed along the existing channel. The map referenced
above and the Cross-sections ;~:ap, describe the
cross-sectional areas. In order to compute the retention
volume capacity of the existing channel, a cross-section
end-area volume method was utilized. This provided a total
existing channel volume of 448,100 cubic feet between the
upstream and downstream point of diversion. In cubic yards,
this volume is 16,596. Therefore, the amount of material to
be excavated will thereby provide a necv channel slightly
greater in capacity than the existing channel. The new
channel will be excavated to a depth of 7.5 feet and a bottom
width of 21 feet. The bank slopes will he no steeper than
2H:1V.
