SECTION V—PERMIT VARIANCES AND SPECIFIC APPROVALS <br /> There are no specific variances and approvals by the Division for the North Thompson Creek <br /> Mines. <br /> SECTION VI—BONDING SUMMARY <br /> The Division holds an approved bond on behalf of the permitted North Thompson Creek Mines. <br /> Bonding is in the form of a U.S. Treasury Note for $172,575.00 (US Bank of Denver, <br /> 912827557), and a Certificate of Deposit for$100,000 (Colorado National Bank—Grand <br /> Junction Office 394310587644), for a total coverage of$272,575. A summary of bond history, <br /> Required Surety, and Estimated Cost of Remaining Reclamation is at Appendix D. There are no <br /> pending bond release applications as of the date of this review. <br /> Pursuant to Rule 3.02.2(4), the Division has reviewed the North Thompson Creek Mines <br /> reclamation liability estimate of$167,131 (3 March 1998). Completed tasks of this estimate and <br /> associated estimated costs are as follows: <br /> Task K 7 Seal Mine Portal &Vent Shaft $10,685 <br /> Task M 10 Demolition $ 7,050 <br /> Subtotal: $17,735. <br /> As remaining reclamation work is $17,735 less than the March 1998 estimate of$167,131, the <br /> $272,575 bond amount is considered adequate at this time. <br /> Remaining bond release and Rule 3 clearance actions include: <br /> a) Phase I bond release for the re-disturbed Portal 1 intake and return area. <br /> b) Phase II bond release for all areas disturbed less those areas of permanent facilities. <br /> c) Phase III bond release and/or Rule 3 clearance of all disturbed areas. <br /> Remaining reclamation work tasks include: <br /> a) Reclamation of the Refuse Pond — <br /> b) Reclamation of the Sedimentation Pond 9 <br /> c) Rill and Gully Repair <br /> d) Maintenance of the Sedimentation Ponds <br /> e) Topsoiling and Seeding Ponds and Ditches <br /> f) Sealing & Plugging of Monitoring Wells <br /> g) Maintenance of the Water Treatment System <br /> h) Re-seeding <br /> i) Removal of sewage treatment plant piping and remnant concrete powder or blast cap <br /> building pad* <br /> j) Removal of protruding reinforcing rods from the remnant North Thompson Creek diversion* <br /> North Thompson Creek Mines l l- 6 Feb 2001 <br />
