October 17, 1997 National King Coal, LLC (NKC) submitted the
permit application package (PAP) under the
approved Colorado State Program to the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
(DMG) for a permit revision for'the King
Coal Mine.
October 17, 1997 The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and
Enforcement (OSM) received the permit .
revision application.
October 30, 1997 DMG determined that the PAP was
administratively complete for public review
and comment .
• November 29, 1997 NKC published in the Durango Herald the
fourth consecutive weekly notice that its
complete PAP was filed with DMG.
March 9, 1998 The State Historic Preservation Office
provided its comments on the mining plan.
October 19, 1998 The Bureau of Land Management provided its
findings and recommendations on the approval
of the mining plan.
October 27, 1998 OSM determined that no effect will occur to
threatened or endangered species.
November 5, 1998 DMG approved the PAP.
December 9, 1998 OSM's Western Regional Coordinating Center
recommended to the Director, OSM, that the
mining plan action be approved.
