FINDING OF NO SICNIFICAN'T INIP.4CT/DECISION RECORD
Environmental Assessment No. CO-SJFO-00-l0EA
Bureau of Land Management
San Juan Field Office
Durango, Colorado
Finding of No Significant Impact
This proposed Federal action is to approve the Coal Lease Modification COG-60941.
Based on the analysis of the impacts as analyzed in the Environmental Assessment No.
CO-SJFO-00-10EA, I have determined that impacts to the human environment are not
expected to be significant, therefore an enviromnental impact statement is not required,
This finding is based on the following:
-Extensive mitigation measures will be attached as stipulations to the permit. These
• mitigation measures are directed at minimizing short and long term impacts to minerals,
vegetation and soils; cultural resources; and visual aesthetics.
-After mitigation measures are applied, surface and subsurface disturbances are not of
significant scale in terms of context or intensity.
-With the application of these mitigation measures, this project will not contribute
significantly to the cumulative impacts of the region as a result of coal mining.
Recortunended by: ~ ~ ~ Date: r/ /l~~
Calvin N.
