- 6 -
needs let alone the induced population's housing require-
ments. A solid, successful housing effort must guarantee
that 100 percent of the housing requirements of Deserado
workers will be met when the workers arrive and that at least
80 percent of the induced population housing needs-will also
be addressed. Without such mitigation, the housing problem
will present a massive problem to Western Fuels, the County,
and the affected municipalities.
V.
CRS Section 34-33-126(2)(a) provides the time during
which a petition to designate an area unsuitable may be
filed:
"Any such petition which includes acreage
identified in a pending permit application
pursuant to the requirements of section 34-
33-111(1)(a) shall be filed with the board
prior to completion of the informal con-
ference provided for in section 34-33-118(b)
concerning such pending permit application."
The Rio Blanco County Commissioners have today requested
an informal conference on the Western Fuels' application
for the Deserado mine.
Respectfully submitted,
,.: ~.~
Harfis D.
