ICJ) <br />~., .. _. <br />The County Commissioners of Rio Blanco County <br />hereby petition the Plined Land Reclamation Board to <br />designate the land encompassed by the proposed Western <br />Fuels Deserado Mine unsuitable for surface mining opera- <br />tions unless plans for the proposed mine include adequate <br />mitigating measures to protect and preserve the social <br />and economic well being of Rio Blanco County. In the <br />absence of such mitigating measures, the mine will be <br />incompatible with local land use plans and programs. <br />II. <br />Western Fuels-Utah, Inc. has filed with the <br />Colorado I•]ined Land Reclamation Division an application <br />for a permit to perform surface coal mining and reclama- <br />tion operations on land in Rio Blanco County_ The land <br />at issue is <br />Section 1: W-1/2 <br />Section 2: All <br />Section 3: All <br />Section 4: All <br />Section 10: NE-1/4 NE-1/4 <br />Section 11: W-1/2 NW-1/4, NE-1/4 NW-1/4, Lot 2, Lot <br />3, Lot 4, Lot 5, that portion of Lot 7 north of the White <br />River, that portion of Lot 8 north of State Highway 64, and <br />Lot 15. <br />
