Memo to Susan McCannon
Report for Tatums by John D. Reins, P.E.
Page 6
"Recommendations"
Mr. Reins, in this final section of his report, recommends that the Tatums "closely
monitor the structural cracks and separations within the house." This is a
recommendation which I endorse. It might possibly provide some additional data with
which to definitively understand the magnitude and locus of the stress being
experienced by the Tatums' residence.
Mr. Reins in the second paragraph of this section also observes; "Leakage problems
at the upper roof scuppers should be corrected..." This suggestion I also endorse. I
suspect that had these problems been addressed when moisture-related deterioration
problems first began to be manifested, much of the current damage to the Tatums'
residence could have been prevented.
I hope that these comments assist in your consideration of the report prepared by Mr.
John D. Reins, P.E. And Senior Consultant with Madsen, Kneppers & Associates, Inc.,
and submitted for your consideration by Mrs. Tatum.
cc: Dan Hernandez
Randy Price
Mike Long, Director
Mike Rosenthal, OSMRE/WSC
Doc: M:\COAL\JAP\TATUM.REN
JP/jp
