Introduction 1.1 Permittee and Operation Coors Energy Company (CEC) is permitted (C-81-028) to conduct surface coal mining and reclamation operations at the Keenesburg Strip Mine. This is for continuing reclamation work only, as all coal extraction operations have ceased. Reclamation work includes the controlled disposal of tlyash as a portion of the backfill of mine pits. The disposal of hazd rock mine wastes was also permitted in a portion of Pit B. The mine is operated by CEC. The mine is located on private lands within Weld County, Colorado. 5 7 September 1999
