For many years mining operations conducted by Robinson Brick and Tile
were underground operations with minimal effect on the aesthetics of the sur-
rounding area and Roxborough Park. Recently, however, surface strip mining
operations have commenced in such proportions that the beauty of the entire
area is in jeopardy.
Early this year a purchase of property immediately adjacent to "The Hogback
'+i.ine" was arranged for the purpose of immediate residential development of
approximately 600 acres. This development is anticipated to provide impetus
for the development of Roxborough Park.
The reality of this proposed development may now be in doubt because of the
surface mining operations now being conducted by Robinson Brick and Tile and
the resultant damage to [he environment.
Our counsel informs us that the surface mining by Robinson Brick and Tile
Constitutes a use contrary to the District's zoning category "A 1". Accordingly,
on behalf of all the property owners in Roxborough Park, we respectfully request
that the Board of County Commissioners enforce its zoning resolution and in so
doing institute appropriate action for the purpose of terminating Robinson Brick
and Tile's unauthorized and illegal land use.
Very ly yours,
~~
William H. Stolz
Director
WHS/vk
