Geology [2.04.5 and 2.04.6(2)] <br />ThQ geology sections of the permit application, found on pages 2-219 to <br />2-246 of Volume 1 and in the additional geology exhibits volume, have <br />been reviewed by the Division for compliance. <br />Site specific geology information has been provided for the are of the <br />proposed waste pile. This information has been reviewed by the <br />Division. <br />The application is in compliance with the requirements of this section. <br />V. Hydrologic Balance: Surface Water (2.045, 2.047, 2. <br />The surface water quality, diversions, sediment control, and discharge <br />structures sections of the application have been reviewed by the <br />Division. The surface water quality portion of the permit application <br />can be found in Section 2.81, and the diversions, sediment control, and <br />discharge structures sections can be found in Volumes IV, V, and VI. <br />In addition, the surface water sections of the permit revision <br />application have been reviewed. The operation is in compliance. <br />VI. Hvdrologic Balance: Ground Water (2.04.5. 2.04.7, 2.05.3(4 <br />Because of concerns that were raised by the public during the initial <br />permit review (1980-81) concerning water impacts, the Division has <br />included advisory stipulations that apply to lands in future permit <br />terms. The following stipulation applies to lands outside the current <br />five year permit. <br />In order to insure the applicant has adequate baseline data prior to <br />mining in areas currently outside the five year permit area, the <br />following stipulation (included in the original permit) is required: <br />Stipulation No. 1 <br />THE APPLICANT MUST INSTALL MONITORING WELLS IN, CONDUCT PUMPING TEST <br />ON, AND MONITOR WATER LEVELS AND WATER QUALITY IN THE AL.LWIUM OF DRY <br />FORK, LICK CREEK, SOUTH PRONG AND HORSE CREEK ONE YEAR PRIOR TO h1INING <br />WITHIN THE ~~TER.SFIEDS OF THESE STREAMS. THE APPLICANT SHALS, SUBMIT TO <br />THE DIVISION THE DATA AND RESULTS OF THESE TESTS AND MONITORING ALONG <br />WITH PRQTEC.TED IMPACTS PRIOR TO CONDUCTING MINING WITHIN ANY OF THE <br />WATERSHEDS. <br />In addition, ground water conditions and concerns for the permanent <br />lower waste pile have been reviewed and discussed. The operation is in <br />compliance. <br />
