-9-
Finally, revegetation activities will establish a permanent vegetative cover
of the same seasonal variety native to the area and capable of
self-regeneration and plant succession equal in extent and cover to the
natural vegetation in the area.
The Mt. Gunnison No. 1 Mine permit application was originally submitted on
November 6, 1979, and was approved on July 31, 1981. On August 27, 1985, WECC
submitted this permit revision request to construct a permanent waste pile
near the mouth of Sylvester Gulch. Another permanent waste pile, to be
located on the slope above the portals, was previously approved as a permit
revision on June 14, 1985. At this time W~CC wishes to permit and construct a
permanent waste pile on this proposed lower site instead of utilizing the
upper site. Construction at the upper site has never commenced. All of the
lands affected by the permit revision are within the North Fork of the
Gunnison River drainage. No significant water resources will be adversely
affected by the revision.
The legal description of lands included within this permit revision is as
follows:
SW 1/4 SW 1/4 of Section 10, T13S, R60W
NW 1/4 NW 1/4 of Section 15, T13S, RSOW of the 6th p.m.
The following decision document and findings of compliance were prepared for
the entire proposed Mt. Gunnison permit area permitted to date under permit
C-007-80 and the Lower Waste Pile permit revision. Any stipulations from the
original permit and findings document that have been totally resolved to the
satisfaction of the Division, have been removed from this document. Therefore
this document represents current findings of compliance, current stipulations
still in effect, and current cumulative hydrologic impact assessments.
