[ am limited by the House Committee on Standards of Official
Conduct to act as a "go-between" between constituents and Federal administrative agencies.
l have reviewed the reports of my staff regarding both the meeting with you at your property,
and the meeting with representatives at West Elk Mine. It is clear that the issues brought to my
attention regarding yotu concerns with the activities of West Elk Mine do not involve the
administrative branch of any federal agency. I am therefore, unable to assist you further in this
case.
I will however, relay to you the information received by Dianne Pacheco, Constituent Services
Caseworker in my Grand Junction Office, from the representatives of West Elk Mine during her
meeting with them.
The following describes what West Elk Mine's representatives stated the company is willing to do
to reclaim the surface of your property:
1. Bulldoze and till wacks on roads, compaction may require some excavation
2. Fill and repair those cracks and holes wtuch are reasonably accessible from the roads
3. Use caution to ensure that repairs to the property do not cause unnecessary damage to vegetation
a. Continue to repair and maintain the repair of the roads and reasonably accessible holes and cracks which are
related to subsidence now, neat winter, m the fall and next summer
Thank you for contacting my office and allowing me to be of assistance to you. [f you have any
questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to contact Dianne Pacheco, Constituent
Services Caseworker, in my Grand Junction office at (970)245-7107, or by facsimile at (970)245-
2194.
I II I II I II IIII III IINGTON OFFICE'
999 eNNON PWLDMG
W45XINGiON. pC }05:5-06p1
L4% ~:Ob }}yp6::
DISTRICT OFFICES.
PRINTED ON PECVREO OaPEq
