Gunnison No. 1 Mine <br />~-~ <br />~ Mining Plan Modification Approval <br />• <br />DATE EVENT <br />July, 1981 Office of Surface Mining (OSM) approved original <br />permit. <br />August 11, 1981 NRDC, Inc. and several petitioners filed petition to <br />review Federal approval before Department of the <br />Interior Board of Land Appeals. <br />December 4, 1981 ARCO and the State of Colorado filed motion to <br />dismiss before Board. <br />February 24, 1982 Board denied motion to dismiss. <br />August, 1982 Evidentiary hearing proceeds. <br />February 28, 1985 West Elk Coal Company (WECC) submitted 1,630 permit <br />revision application package (PAP) under the approved <br />Colorado Program to the Colorado Mined Land <br />Reclamation Division (MLRD) for a new permit revision <br />for the Mt. Gunnison No. 1 mine. <br />.~ <br />•~~ March 21, 1985 Colorado MLRD determined that the PAP was complete <br />and commenced its technical analysis. First <br />publication in newspaper that applicant applied for <br />revision. <br />May 15, 1985 The Office of Surface Mining (OSM) furnished comments <br />on the PAP, generated during its administrative <br />completeness review (ACR) for NEPA to Colorado MLRD. <br />June 12, 1985 WECC submitted additional material 1n response to <br />ACR. <br />July 10, 1985 Colorado MLRD notified WECC of deficiencies <br />discovered in the PAP. <br />July 25, 1985 WECC responded to Colorado MLRD concerning those <br />deficiencies. <br />August, 1985 OSM approves 320 acre mining plan modification. <br /> <br />
