Introduction <br />This document is the decision package prepared by the Division of Minerals and Geology (the <br />Division) for the King I and II Mines. This document includes: 1) the proposed decision to approve <br />the permit revision application; 2) a summary which includes a history of the review of the permit <br />revision application, a description of the environment affected by the operation and a description of <br />the mining and reclamation plan; and 3) the written findings of compliance the Division has made as <br />required by the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act. Detailed information concerning <br />the findings of compliance can be found in the Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land <br />Reclamation Board for Coal Mining. <br />The Division has received an application to renew the coal mining and reclamation permit for the <br />King I and II Mines, for an additional five-yeaz term. The file number is Permit Renewal No. 5 (RN- <br />OS). The application for RN-OS was submitted on February 16, 2007 by National King Coal, LLC <br />(NKC), the operator of the King I Mine and the King II Mine. The mines are located on federal, <br />state, and private lands in La Plata County, Colorado.
