FOOTNOTES - APPLICABLE TO PRECEDING PAGES <br /> <br />PART I <br />Page 2 of 19 <br />a/ - The thirty (30) day average shall be determined by the arithmetic <br />mean of all samples collected during a thirty (30) consecutive-day <br />period. Samples shall not be used for more than one (1) reporting <br />period. (Not applicable to fecal coliform determinations - please <br />nee footnote m/.) <br />b/ - The seven (7) day average shall be determined by the arithmetic mean <br />of all samples taken in a seven (7) day period. Samples may not be <br />used for more than one (1) reporting period. (Not applicable to <br />fecal coliform determinations - please see footnote m/.) <br />c/ - This limitation shall be determined by a single sample or set of <br />samples ae required bq Part I.B., Sample Type. ' <br />d/ - When the measurement frequency indicated is quarterly, the samples <br />shall be collected during March, June, September and December, if a <br />continual discharge occurs. If the diseharge is intermittent, then <br />samples shall be collected during the period that discharge occurs. <br />If the permittee, using t2:e approved analytical methods, monitors <br />any parameter more frequently than required by this permit, Chen the <br />results of such monitoring shall be included in the calculation and <br />reporting of the values required in the Discharge Monitoring Report <br />Form or other forms as required by the Division. Such increased <br />frequency el~all also be indicated. <br />e/ - Definitions of Sample Type <br />1. A "composite" sample, for monitoring requirements, is a minimum <br />of four (4) grab samples collected at equally spaced two (2) <br />hour intervals and proportioned according to flow. <br />2. A "grab" sample, for monitoring requirements, is a single "dip <br />and take" sample. <br />3. An "instantaneous" measurement, for monitoring requirements, is <br />a single reading, observation, or measurement performed on site. <br />4. A "continuous" measurement, £or flow maaitoriag requirements, is <br />a measurement obtained from an automatic recording device which <br />continually measures flow. <br />5. A "visual" observation, for oil and grease monitoring <br />requirements, is observing the discharge to check for the <br />presence of a visible sheen or floating oil, <br />6.
