iii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
October 17, 1990
Michael Ossola
Las Animas County
200 East First St.
Trinidad, Colorado
Dear Mr. Ossola:
Planning Office
Room 104
81082
In reply to your letter of September 19, 1990 I have reviewed the
application, made by Mr. W.T. Davis for a conditional use ~e:n~it
for a strip mine. As noted in Mr. Davis' application. I initiall:~
.:ommented on this project with letters on Mal 21, 1987 and AugLSr_
i,, 198"'. These letters can be found as Exhibit I and aye
attached.
There are no known threatened or endangered species occurring in
this area at the present time the area is not considered critical
winter habitat for big game. Our aerial flights during January
show a low concentration of deer and elk in this area. No
perennial wetlands are found in the area. As always a solid
reclamation effort should be made to restore any disturbed area
back to native flora. The overall impact on wildlife in the aria
should be minimal. The area impacted is rather small, less than
40 acres and occurs in an area which has been mined in the past.
If I can be of further assistance please do not hesitate to
contact me.
Sincerely ,/~~~y
/JAMES L.
