Commitments with the following exceptions:
1. Transect length for Coverage and Diversity data collection needs to agree with the Edna permit
(page 4.4-23) commitment of 100 M long.
2. The appropriate adequacy formula needs to be applied to the data as defined in the Division's
"Guideline Regarding Selected Coal Mine Bond Release Issues" (April 18, 1995, pages 20 and 21).
If the data shows that the sampled pazameter is less than the reclamation standard, please use the
adequacy formula shown on page 20 of the referenced guideline. If the reclaimed area sample data
equals or exceeds the reclamation success standazd, the adequacy formula shown on page 21 of the
reference guideline is applicable.
3. Sub-shrub species should not be included in the stem counts for Woody Stem Density
reclamation success determinations.
The Division appreciates the submission of the reclamation success sampling proposal for review
prior to data collection. Please apprise the Division of the timing of the sampling. The Division
attempts to observe the state of the mine and vegetation concunent with the sampling program, and
if possible, meet the sampling crew on site. If questions arise in the field, Division personnel can
often address questions at the time of the inspection.
If you have any questions, or suggestions on the reconciliation of azeas, please contact me.
Sincerely,
~~ ~ ~~~_
Byron G.
