IX. Revegetation <br />A. Information pertaining to baseline vegetation and revegetation is presented in Section <br />2.04.10 and in Section 2.05.4, respectively. <br />Apre-mining vegetation inventory was not performed on the King Coal Mine because <br />the site was distwbed in 1941, prior to any requirements for such surveys. In lieu of <br />this, NKC provided a description of areas next to the King Coal Mine having <br />vegetation types similar to what is believed to have been distwbed. Three vegetation <br />communities were identified: mountain shrub, pinon juniper, and introduced pasture. <br />The introduced pastwe was distwbed by the combination haul road at the King Coal <br />Mine; whereas, the mountain shrub and pinon juniper communities were disturbed by <br />the surface facilities area. <br />The results of a premining vegetation survey for the King II Mine aze provided in <br />Appendix 7 of the King II Mine permit volume and on map King II-006. The survey <br />found two plant communities in the proposed King II Mine affected area: a <br />rabbitbrush/big sage mixed shrubland community and a pinyon woodland vegetation <br />community. <br />No known threatened or endangered plant species were identified in the review of the <br />areas next to the King Coal Mine and the premining survey for the King II Mine; <br />therefore, the Division finds, pwsuant to Rule 2.07.6(2)(n), that the activities will not <br />affect the continued existence of endangered or threatened species or result in the <br />destruction or adverse modification of their critical habitat. <br />The Division has previously approved arevegetationgrass/forb seed mix for the King <br />Coal Mine as set for the on page 7, Section 2.05.4 of the King Coal permit volume. <br />The Division proposes to approve for reclamation of the King II Mine the seed mix <br />specified in Section 2.05.4 of the permit application. The mix is designed to <br />establishing grasses, forbs, and shrubs that will support a postmining land use of <br />rangeland and wildlife habitat. <br />The Division has previously approved the following revegetation success criteria for <br />the King Coal Mine: <br />Cover -Minimum 30% total live cover, to be measwed using a method to be <br />approved by the Division. <br />2. Production -Minimum total herbaceous production in one yeaz of 300 pounds per <br />acre (dry weight). <br />3. Woodv Plant Densiri - No criteria. <br />21 <br />
