• The remainder of the area will be returned to hayland. This
includes those areas associated with the shop/laboratory area, waste
water treatment facility, silo and conveying system, sediment control
system, No. 5 mine water handling system, and railroad tracks.
As of this time, insufficient data exists to establish a success
criterium. Production records from the northern and southern areas of
the Wo. 5 mine are being generated, and will be terminated once five
years of data is available. To date, the record is for the period of
1979 through 1982. The following table gives the production from each
of the hayed areas.
YEAR AREA N0. OF BALES (50 lbs./bale)
1979 North End 850
• South End 790
1980 North End 500
South End 580
1981 North End 650
South End 630
1982 North End 420 (area near new
settling ponds
was not cut)
South End 600
1983 North End 633
South End 526
Once the historic has been established it will be used in
evaluating successful revegetation. It is proposed that the areas have
been successfully returned to hayland once the production from the
production obtained from the southern exposure reference area. Woody
species density will be deemed successful when 1,000 individuals/acre
are established on the pile.
•
(REV. 12/13/83)
IV-99
