L. R.D.
File No. M-80-224
Dear Ms. Farrell:
In response to your letter of Inspection and Inspection Report dated May 8-9,
1985, a technical revision is hereby being submitted.which addresses allof the
items pertaining to this pit.
There will be one difference frmn the approved pit permit. After the operator mines
Area "A", Phase 1 (5 acres), which has been completed in 1985 according to the
mining plan, the next mining area will be Area "C", Phase 3, instead of the previously
indicated Area "B", Phase 2. Phase 3 contains 11 acres and will start in 1985 and
be completed in 1990. The operator will start at the east face and proceed north
and west, with 2. 5 acres (approximately) being mined each year.
After this area is mined, the operator then plans to mine area "B", Phase 2,
which contains 5 acres and will start in 1990 and be completed in 1992-1993, and
will start at the north side of Phase 2, with approximately 2 1/2 acres being mined
each year. The affected area will remain the same and the mining and reclamation
plan will remain the same per the approved pemit.
A mining plan map (1 inch= approximately 200 ft.) is enclosed. The Colorado Mined
Land Reclamation Rules and Regulations does not require a contour interval of
5 ft. , and I have furnished a map with an interval of 20 ft. , which is standard and
adequate to portray the direction and rate of slope of the affected area. A drainage
plan is also enclosed.
In response to the recommendation that a qualified professional handle the required
reports, Ifeelthatthis issue has already been addressed and qualified maps, data,
and other information is hereby being submitted.
I trust that the enclosed technical revisions complete the adequacy portions of this
permit per your specifications, and as all timelines have been met thus far, con-
sideration for possible violations by the Mined Land Reclamation Board are hereby
deferred per your letter of May 8-9, 1985.
