Mr. James Lunan - 3 - March 2, 1990
b. Only the simple bulk earthmoving tasks are estimated an a multiple
shift basis. Precision earthwork tasks such as final grading,
stream channel reconstruction, and some types of topsoil
replacement tasks are estimated on a single shift basis, as well as
structural demolition and revegetation work;
c. Hourly productivity on multiple shift work is adjusted downward as
specified in the Cat Handbook for work done at night. Aside from
the adverse effect of reduced visibility on hourly production,
contractors performing the work will be unfamiliar with and
inexperienced in night time construction work which will also serve
to reduce productivity below daytime levels; and
d. Floodlighting system costs are added to the estimate as necessary
to provide minimum visibility necessary to conduct operations
safely.
3. Additional Equipment Costs
Based on further review of cost data contained in the CRG and CECG, it
appears that the fuel cost value shown in the CRG does not include the
cost of a fueling truck, fueling labor, and fuel storage costs. As such,
the cost of a fueling rig and operator should be added in order to
provide a more accurate estimate of anticipated project costs. A cost
worksheet for a fueling rig and operator is attached.
4. Apparently the wrong volume was used when figuring topsoil replacement
costs for stockpiles P and Q. The combined total volume should be
49,200 bank cubic yards (BCY) instead of the 24,500 BCY used.
Please make the required changes and submit them to the Division by
March 30, 1990 so that they may be incorporated into TR-07 adequacy responses.
If you have any questions please contact me.
Sincerely.
Carl B.
