_,~. •.-
Memo- North Thompson Mine - 2 - January 25, 1989
Russian Thistle is on site and needs to be eradicated. The west side of the
refuse area has a particularly good crop.
A complete inspection needs to include the walking of all ditches on site
including to the head of the refuse area. Other sites that need to be
inspected are the No. 3 mine site, the truck dump area, the old loadout (now
cropland) area, and the Kaiser-Seivers ditch. The Kaiser-Seivers ditch is
located on the county road below the truck dump pad. Tnis ditch was
originally concreted by the mine. Tne owners of the ditch asked that the
ditch be placed back into dirt upon reclamation. This has been accomplished.
The ditch needs to be inspected to ensure that no failure or slumping below it
is evident. A bond of E10,000.00 per year for 5 years is being held for any
repairs that may be needed to the ditch.
The mine contact is now James Stover who is located in Grand Junction. He
needs to be notified 2 days before you plan to do a complete inspection so
that he can Dring the records and the permit down for inspection.
2832F/scg
