CO. 81924
RE:SEID MIXTURE FOR STARTS "6.73 ACRES OF PRIME FARM"
Dear Mr. Staats:
R~
G'`/S~ sF~~ ~~~FO
ono ~'~e. S,99S
'aia.
~~~~0
Oy
Western Fuels-Colorado, LLC, is in the process of placing an additional 0.8 feet
of topsoil on 6.73 acres of your land that was designated as prime farmland by
Peabody soil scientist. This topsoil was removed prior to mining activities of
your land and stockpiled. According to the Colorado Division of Minerals &
Geology US9G), WFC is required to replace the same prime farm land soil back
onto the land it came from. WFC is co~lying to your request which will also
satisfy CMG stipulation. WFC will also remove any rocks fran the newly
topsoiled 6.73 acr>?s of land, prior to seeding.
WFC will be proposing to DMG, through a Technical Revision to our permit, that
the 6.73 acres of land that is being effected by this retopsoil distribution, be
returned back to an irrigated alfalfa hay land field. We feel this is an
appropriate vegetation for prime farmland. Now, for the question. Would yoil
prefer the land to be reseeded as irrigated alfalfa hay land, or as an ir-rigated
grass pasture? I need to know which type of reseeding you prefer so I can
incorporate it into the Technical Revision that I will be sending to IxNG. If
you would complete the enclosed form stating your preference and retw.'ning it to
us by the first working day of October, I would appreciate int. I will make the
necessary changes in the TR to reflect your choice. If I fail to receive your
reply at the specified date, I will presume that you accept our prescribed
alfalfa seed mixture and will submit the Technical Revision accordingly.
I am available to answer any questions you may have on this or any other
subject. I also invite you to inspect the vegetation on your la/ld and the new
topsoiled acreage.
Sincerely, ,~ %1
Lid r7'/ '~.
~..~ROSS L.
