Also, the latest inspection report
for the East dump is enclosed.
Under Section III, "Comments-Compliance", the apparent inconsist-
ency noted in the number of parameters analyzed for pond discharges
has been clarified for Mr. Ron Sassaman of the Office of Surface Mining.
On July 29, 1982, samples were collected from ponds A, B, and N as they
discharged. These samples were initially analyzed for total iron, pH,
and total suspended solids (the NPDES Requirements). The results of
those analyses were reported on August 21, 1982. The same samples were
then analyzed for the remaining parameters and those. results were re-
ported on September 9, 1982. The confusion resulted because the two
reports were not together, a situation which has since been remedied.
Walden Coal Company placed all the required boundary markers at
the loadout permit perimeters on November 22, 1982.
I hope this letter has clarified the issues addressed in the
latest inspection report.
Sincerely,
~0.. ` tmtio~~_--
Kay J~m s
Resource Manager
Enclosure
