Box 1821
Colorado Springs, CO 80901
RE: G.E.C.- Orphan Pit- Coal Revocation Project
RN-COAL-NINES-8
Dear Dr. Corley,
p°'epto
~~ a
`•~,~ o
Roy Romer
Governor
Mr~hael B. Long
Orvmon Dveclur
The Division received your letter dated August 14, 1993 regarding Amendment 1 to
the RN-COAL-NINES-8 Invitation and Bid Document. The Division has the following
responses:
1. The Division agrees that the Pond A material will need to be moved
to the south rather than to the north to be located southeast of Chen'e
Hill. The Pre-bid meeting revealed the precise location of the material
to be stockpiled. The map attached to the bid document also reveals the
location of Chen'e Hill in respect to Pond A. This item will be clarified
to the contractor at the pre-construction meeting.
2. The Division contacted Randy Acre and Al Weaver of Energy Fuels
regarding the removal of the 30" culvert. Energy Fuels wishes the culvert
to be removed completely as proposed in the original Invitation and Bid
Document rather than have both ends of the culvert crushed. DNG will
notify the contractor of this decision at the pre-construction meeting.
3. The Division is currently working on locating the information you
requested in regard to the hydrologic designs for the West Pit Diversion.
Several DMG staff members qualified in hydtology have been in the field
over the past week. The Division will submit the requested information
once it can be located and verified by staff members.
Please note that the Bid Opening date was on August 19, 1993 and the low bidder
for the project was Phil Kessler of Kessler Reclamation. The Division will
arrange a pre-construction meeting once the paper work has been finalized. I
will inform the Corley Company of this date, and the progression of work
conducted on site.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate
to call.
Sincerely,
Erica Crosby
Reclamation Specialist
cc: X Larry Routten
m:\coal\esc\gec\930820
