Box 389 F]orence, Colorado 81226 RE: La Plata Mine Reclamation File: C-87-072 Dear Mr. Lamoreux: I spoke to Dave Patch on June 8 and he indicated that he planned to finish portal bench and access road backfilling by the end of this week, and then temporarily suspend work at the La Plata site until later this summer. As I believe you are aware, Carl Strohecker has requested that the house trailer owned by Frank Smith and the bench on which it sits along with associated water, sewer and electrical facilities remain as is. The Division is authorizing a modification to the reclamation schedule as set forth in the Letter of Agreement to allow for retention of the trailer and associated facilities as requested. Assuming that portal bench and portal access road backfilling have been completed, tasks that remain to be done are listed below: - Demolition of conveyor and conveyor supports, regrading of the drainage beneath the conveyor and regrading of the conveyor access road. - Sealing of the two monitoring wells adjacent to the regraded leach pad and sediment pond. The well located adjacent to the topsoil stockpile in the draw west of the minesite will remain as is. - Implementation of acceptable sediment controls on the north side of the county road. - Topsoiling the lower bench facilities area and revegetation of aTl disturbed areas. The remaining activities will need to be initiated no later than September 15, 1990 and completed no later than October 15, 1990 as specified in the Letter of Agreement. Phase I bond liability release cannot be granted until demolition and removal of the conveyor has been completed and the conveyor access road and the drainage segment beneath the conveyor have been regraded.
