III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
999
STATE OF COLORADO
Roy Romer, Govei
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
FRED R. BANTA, Dlreetor
DATE: September 1, 1989
T0: Carl Mount
FRUM: Tim King /
RE: Nucla Annual Topography Map
The 1987-1988 annual topography map that was received in the office
July 9, 1989, is the first that is required by Permit Renewal No. 1, recorded
on page 20.5 of the Nucla permit. It should be noted that the map is required
to be submitted by April 15 of each year.
No cross sections have been submitted because no grading or backfilling work
nas been done to completion. It seems clear to me, however, that an,y grading
and backfilling s obi u~d~Fiown on these maps, not just completed areas.
There are 3 areas that I was able to compare: 1) immediately south of what
Peabody calls Area 1, just north of County Road 124, 2) the area that Peabody
calls Area 2, and 3) a triangular plot directly to the east of Area 1 and
directly north of Area 2. All of these areas delineate work prior to 1987.
The completed work at Area 1 and 3 conforms closely to the approved postmining
topography. It is evident that Area 2 need more work for completion.
CON'~f1a ~I xrn~,J ~re.
